Albuquerque Public Schools is a school district based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1891, the Albuquerque Public School District (APS) is the largest of 89 public school districts in the State of New Mexico. In 2005 it had a total of 127 schools with some 86,560 students. It had 80 elementary, 26 middle and 12 high schools, as well as 10 alternative schools.
