The Evening and the Morning Star (often shortened to Evening and Morning Star) was an early Latter Day Saint periodical published monthly in Independence, Missouri, from June 1832 to July 1833, and then in Kirtland, Ohio, from December 1833 to September 1834.

Printing in Missouri

The Evening and Morning Star was the first Latter Day Saint periodical. It was initially published in a printing office operated by William Wines Phelps in Independence, Missouri, until the office was destroyed by a mob on 20 July 1833. The mob also destroyed numerous uncompleted copies of the Book of Commandments.

Printing resumed in Ohio

After the Latter Day Saints were expelled from Missouri in late 1833], the publication was printed in Kirtland, Ohio, in a shop owned by Frederick G. Williams. The editor in Kirtland was Oliver Cowdery. The publication was eventually succeeded by the Messenger and Advocate.
