Evere is one of the nineteen municipalities located in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium. On January 1, 2006 the municipality had a total population of 33,462. The total area is 5.02 km² which gives a population density of 6,668 inhabitants per km².
The headquarters of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) are not located in Evere but in Haren (part of Brussels city).
Schaarbeek Cemetery, despite being named after the neighbouring municipality of Schaarbeek, is in Evere.
In September 2008 a former windmill in Evere, originally built in 1841, was opened as the 'Brussels Mill and Food Museum' (Musée bruxellois du Moulin et de l’Alimentation).1
