This aims to be a complete list of national anthems - please help to complete it.

A national anthem is a self-identifying anthem of a nation. The anthem (which can be any form of musical composition) is intended to connect a 'national' with the idea of his or her nation - either in its spirit, or directly through lyrics. A Nation can be a country (including countries that are part of larger countries), a nation state, a people, or an area with a self-identifying populace who regard themselves as a nation. National anthems can be official, unofficial or 'de facto'. Some nations have more than one national anthem.

To qualify for this list, the national anthem must be performed at public events, and be universally recognised as being the appropriate national anthem by the listening public. National anthems can change over time - this is a list of those currently used.

There is also a List of historical national anthems.
