The flag of the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario

This is a list of lieutenant governors (pronounced "lef-tenant") of the Canadian province of Ontario, before and after Confederation in 1867. The Lieutenant-Governor is the Ontarian vice-regal representative of the Canadian Monarch.

Lieutenant-Governors of Upper Canada (Pre-Confederation)

Upper Canada was created out of the western part of Quebec by the Constitutional Act of 1791.

(**)Lord Sydenham was also Governor General of Canada when Upper Canada and Lower Canada united into the Province of Canada. Upper Canada became Canada West and Lower Canada became Canada East.

Lieutenant-Governors of Canada West (Pre-Confederation)

After Richard Downes Jackson, the Lieutenant-Governors were also simultaneously Governors General.

The Province of Canada was split into Ontario and Quebec after Canadian Confederation in 1867.

• Donald Alexander Macdonald was the first Canadian born Lieutenant Governor of Ontario
• Gordon Drummond was the first Canadian born Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada
• James Bartleman was the first aboriginal to hold the post
• Pauline Mills McGibbon was the first woman to hold the post
• Lincoln Alexander was the first black Canadian to hold the post
• Francis de Rottenburg was the only Swiss born person to hold the post
• Casimir Gzowski was the only Polish born person to hold the post
• Hilary Weston is the only Irish born person to hold the post
• Herbert Alexander Bruce was the first doctor to hold the post
• David Onley is the first person with a disability to hold the post
