R&B/hip-hop singer Mercedes was born Raequel Miller in Louisiana in 1978 and grew up in Detroit, attending the city's High School for the Fine and Performing Arts and participating in the spiritually oriented Brazeal Dennard Youth Chorale. While studying music at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, she came to the attention of Master P at a talent show, and was signed to Master P's No Limit Records immediately and christened Mercedes. She released one album entitled Rear End in 1999. The album, like most of No Limit's releases, featured other No Limit performing artists such as Mystikal, Mac, Mia X, Silkk the Shocker and Master P. "Rear End" showcased Mercedes' range as a rapper and singer/songwriter with a blend of hip-hop and R&B. The album cover for Rear End shows Mercedes bent over the hood of a Mercedes wearing a pair of revealing shorts and high heels. After releasing "Rear End", Mercedes retired from performing to pursue a career as an attorney.
