Oenothera elata is a plant of the genus Oenothera. Its subspecies include hookeri, hirsutissima and elata.1

The hookeri subspecies of Oenothera elata, also called Hooker's evening primrose and native to North America, can reach about 1.8 meters (6 feet) height. The shade of its flowers varies from yellow to orange.2
