The Matrix is a music production team, consisting of Scott Spock, Lauren Christy, and Graham Edwards. They gained fame in the early 2000s after writing and producing a series of hits for Christina Aguilera, Busted, Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne, McFly, Jason Mraz, Shakira, Britney Spears, and Skye Sweetnam, to name a few. They then went on to cowrite and produce "See You On The Other Side" for Korn which sold over 2 million copies worldwide.
The members of The Matrix are 7 time Grammy nominated songwriters and producers, the recipient of the Ivor Novello award for Best International Pop Hit of the Year 2003, BMI and ASCAP Songwriters of The Year 2004, as well as 2 time Canadian Juno winner for Pop Song of the Year and Album of The Year 2003.
Before her involvement in The Matrix, Lauren Christy had moderate success as a singer-songwriter, releasing two albums for Mercury Records in the mid-1990s, entitled Lauren Christy and Breed. She and Edwards are married. Before his involvement in The Matrix, Scott Spock had moderate success as a remixer, film- composer and jazz trumpeter with Dave Weckl.
The August 1, 2008 issue of Entertainment Weekly reported that in 2004 The Matrix recorded an album with Katy Perry as lead singer, and shot music videos, but weeks before the disc was set for release the project was aborted.
