Founded by Terje Håkonsen and industry innovators in 2002, the Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour is a rider-driven organisation that aims to represent the progression of snowboarding. The TTR World Snowboard Tour is based on global grass root and key independent freestyle snowboarding competitions. Events are rated via a 1-through-6Star system, with points allocated accordingly, a 6Star contest holding the highest. Any rider participating in these events, from up-and-coming to professional, will earn TTR World Ranking Points and a position on the TTR World Ranking List presented by Swatch. The top male and female snowboarder is crowned Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour Champion.
The TTR official website contains basically all anyone would want to know about the tour. The site includes the world snowboard rankings, event schedules, pro rider bios, daily news, photos and videos, and a press section, among other things.

Tour Explanation
The Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour is a collection of Independent Freestyle snowboarding Events acting under one common Tour Flag. The Swatch Ticket To Ride World Snowboard Tour, or simply 'TTR' has witnessed rapid growth since its inception, revitalising competitive snowboarding whilst establishing its credibility as a globally recognised tour. The TTR Tour spans a 10-month competition season including top rated Snowboarding events taking place across four geographical zones.
The original TTR format, started in 2002, has been solidified through a combination of refinements, and additions including the 05/06 season's introduction of the TTR Star Tier system, its own Ranking System, the launch of the TTR Web Site, and a Women’s specific tour. With these additions in place, 91 results were recorded from 4 formats: Slopestyle, Halfpipe, Quarterpipe, and Big Air.
1435 riders from 37 Nations competed, each receiving World ranking recognition for the 2005-2006 season. The two TTR World Tour Champions, Shaun White (USA), and Torah Bright (AUS), both of whom laid claim to historical inaugural titles, increased tour interest across the board resulting in increased media exposure, increased rider applications, and more events applying for accreditation.
The Star Tier system
All events on the TTR World Snowboard Tour are accredited as either a 6Star, 5Star, 4Star, 3Star, 2Star or 1Star event, with a 6Star event being the highest category of event on the tour.
TTR Star accreditation denotes:
1. Significance of the event
2. Quantity of TTR Ranking points obtainable
Note: Higher star rated events offer more TTR Ranking Points per position attained.
Event Formats
Event Formats that are accredited TTR Ranking Points are:
1. Slopestyle
2. Big Air/Straight Air
3. Halfpipe
4. Quarterpipe
Note: All Event Formats at the same star tier carry the same points value.
TTR Ranking Points
The Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour ranking points available for a position at a specific star tier, e.g. 6Star, position 1 = 1000 ranking points
| Place | 6Star event | 5Star event | 4Star event | 3Star event | 2Star event | 1Star event |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | 1000 | 850 | 500 | 400 | 200 | 100 |
| 2. | 942.30 | 800.95 | 471.15 | 376.92 | 188.46 | 94.23 |

TTR Ranking Score
Each rider´s ranking score is calculated as the:
AVERAGE OF THE BEST 7 (SEVEN) POSTED RESULTS IN THE CURRENT SEASON. (One of the results can be your season-end bonus points results if one competed in the season prior to the current one. It's also possible to substitute the season-end bonus points with a better result from the current season)
If a rider has less than 7 results: The total Ranking Points from posted results are added and divided by 7 to generate the TTR World Ranking Score.
If a rider has posted more than 7 results: The results with the lowest TTR Ranking Points are dropped. The best 7 results are added and divided by 7 to create the riders TTR Ranking Score.
Result Definition
- An independently judged and accredited FORMAT at a TTR Tour event.
- Combined results do not account for TTR Ranking Points
Note: NOT ALL EVENTS with more than one format offer multiple TTR results.
Geographical Reach
The Tour's geographical reach expanded in the 2005/2006 season. Additional events in the Southern Hemisphere, Asia, Europe, and North America has provided increased exposure for the Tour, and the opportunity for more riders to compete.
2007-2008 Contest Season
Part of the remit of the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour is to try to ensure that the standard, and diversity of events represented on the Tour remains consistent, and appropriate to each star level rating. To fulfill this objective, every event wishing to participate must apply for accreditation each year it wants to be included. The 2007/2008 tour has granted accreditation to six 6Star events, eight 5Star events, and nine 4Star events, including the three major Southern Hemisphere events.
