With offices in North Clarendon, Vermont, Singapore, Tokyo, and Jakarta, Tuttle Publishing has become the largest English-language book publishing and distribution company in Asia.
The company was founded in 1948 in Tokyo by Charles Egbert Tuttle (1915-1993) and dedicated to publishing "books to span the East and West". For many years, its title pages laconically noted company offices in Tokyo and Rutland, Vermont.
