This is a list of Wikipedians who are no longer an integral part of the community. See also Wikipedia:List of administrators/Inactive.

Wikipedians who no longer edit due to confirmed death should instead be added to Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians.

Purpose of this list

The purpose of this list is to provide a reminder to us of those who have left and their reasons for doing so.

Please do not add people to this list who were never an integral part of the community. Don't add users with fewer than about 1,000 edits. Do not add people unless you are certain they have left, do not add anonymous users identified by their IP address (they could have created an account and still be contributing, or they might have a roaming IP address) and do not add yourself.

• People who leave a goodbye message on their talk page or elsewhere, and then actually refrain from editing for at least two weeks are likely to have left permanently and may be added to the list.
• Wait about a month before listing someone who has simply ceased editing, unless you have some other reason for being certain that they have left.
• In most cases, editors who have gradually adopted a pattern of occasional editing interspersed with long breaks should not be listed merely because they are on one of their long breaks.
• Editors who return are no longer "missing" and should be removed from the list.
• Missing Wikipedians should be added to this list by people who knew them well rather than by strangers.
• If you add your own user name to the list as one of your final edits, your addition might be reverted since it is theoretically impossible for a "missing" Wikipedian to make an edit.

This page was mentioned in an Economist article on March 6 2008: "Many who are excited about contributing to the site end up on the “Missing Wikipedians” page: a constantly updated list of those who have decided to stop contributing. It serves as a reminder that frustration at having work removed prompts many people to abandon the project."

• 52 Pickup (talk • contribs • count) - Administrator. Left on May 9, 2008, with a message explaining his reasoning.

• Abigail-II (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: June 12, 2004 - Final edits were unhappy farewells posted on user, user talk and the Village Pump. Excerpt from user page: "I've no interest in working on a system where people break down your work without discussing it on appropriate page."
• Abrech (talk • contribs • count) - Very active Huggle user who has not edited, nor fought vandalism since June 2, 2008.
• Abu badali (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: September 11, 2007 - Left over concerns regarding non-free content usage, per the final edit. The final edit also indicates the user may return in "some months", depending upon progress in this area. Has edited twice in 2008, making comments in discussions over the policy.
• Adam Carr (talk • contribs • count) - Started contributing September 2003. After many months of increasing frustration, stopped editing regularly February 15, 2007, then posted May 6 that he would no longer contribute to Wikipedia. Made a few sporadic edits afterwards.
• Adamsan (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: May 1, 2006 - Replaced most user page content with "I give up. You win." on April 29, 2006, then removed that message with the final edit. May have left over concerns with external linking, per this edit to Talk:Stonehenge.
• Adjam (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit May 20, 2007. Second to last edit in December 2006.
• After Midnight (talk • contribs • count) - an administrator with over 50,000 edits to the project. Last edit was January 27, 2008.

• Alex756 (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: February 9, 2007 - Administrator - May have left following changes to the Wikimedia Foundation Bylaws in December 2006, a critique of which appears on the user page.

• Apankrat (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: January 3, 2008 - left a goodbye message.
• Apollomelos (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: August 19, 2005 - User & user talk pages were deleted May 21, 2005 by request, citing the reason "I am leaving the project because I no longer have the time to spare contributing to often controversial topics in which I must spend 75% of my time explaining the information to users who did not even bother to read up on the topics[...]". Final edit indicated this user would be returning; has not edited since.
• Apostrophe (talk • contribs • count) - Blanked his user and talk pages on August 4, 2008. Had not edit regularly for several months before that.
• Aranel (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: September 1, 2005. Administrator.

• Ark30inf (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: February 22, 2004 - Left October 24, 2003 with the posting of several farewell messages indicating concerns at a lack of cooperation. • Balcer (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit on September 8, 2007; currently works on Wikimedia Commons.
• Banes (talk • contribs • count) - On August 29, 2006 he left a retirement message on his userpage, saying he would be busy for the next few months, though he continued editing sporadically. Last edit November 17, 2006.
• Basara-kun (talk • contribs • count) - Left on 19/07/2007 after uploading 50+ unsourced images. "Enough. My contribuitions are ignored, my images are removed from the articles and in general, my editions aren't "encyclopedic"."
• Bcrowell (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit March 13, 2006. "Wikipedia was fun for a few years, but at this point I think it's entered a stage where it's just not fun anymore.... I've intentionally munged my password, so I can no longer log in." Apparently reappeared briefly as Bcrowell2 (talk • contribs • count).
• Benc (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit December 23, 2004.
• Ben (talk • contribs • count) - Highly experienced with templates, improving several of them. Last edit was on May 18, 2007.
• Bhouston (talk • contribs • count), later Deodar (talk • contribs • count) - last edit November 13, 2006.
• Big Adamsky (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit April 27, 2006.
• Bill Oaf (talk • contribs • count) - Stopped editing regularly after April 20, 2007. Last edit March 2, 2008.
• Blankfaze (talk • contribs • count) - Has not intentionally edited since the summer of 2007. Made one edit on June 15, 2008.
• BlankVerse (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit April 5, 2007. Made one edit on April 8, 2008.

• Bobblewik (talk • contribs • count) - More than 20,000 edits, but none since October 4, 2006 after heavy criticism was made on his talk page.
• BoojiBoy (talk • contribs • count) - Almost 9000 edits, stopped prolific editing in August 2006, then returned in May of 2007 before retiring for good on June 11, 2007. Left a message on his talk page, "I gave it another chance, nothing has changed here and it's not worth my time. I won't be back this time."
• Bookofjude (talk • contribs • count) - An administrator. Previously missing from the project for about six months, returned for about a week. Last edit February 28, 2007.
• Bornintheguz (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit October 3, 2005. A very prolific contributor to articles about soccer.
• BostonMA (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit July 17, 2007; stopped editing proflicially in February, a month after a failed RfA. 6000+ edits. No reason given.
• Brat32 (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit August 24, 2006; blanked her/his userpage and replaced it with the message "I'm gone."
• Brossow (talk • contribs • count) Posted WikiBreak message on user and user talk pages on June 6, 2006, and has been editing sporadically since. Last edit August 15, 2007.
• BryanG (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit 3 March 2007, left goodbye notice on userpage
• Butseriouslyfolks (talk • contribs • count) - Administrator, last edit May 5, 2008. Says he may "pop in occasionally".

C

• Can't sleep, clown will eat me (talk • contribs • count) - Former administrator and prolific vandal fighter with over 101,000 edits. Last one was on April 1, 2008, made a number of questionable blocks in May and July which led to his eventual desysoping on July 19 pending communication with Arb Com. Has not been heard of since.
• CanadianCaesar (talk • contribs • count) - Administrator. Last edit April 19, 2007.
• Cantus (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit April 23, 2006. Had over 21,000 edits until being blocked for a month on that date due to violating a previous ArbCom decision.
• Captain Wikify (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit August 10, 2007. Added statement to his user page.
• Captain Zyrain (talk • contribs • count) - Resigned his commission.
• Carbonite (talk • contribs • count) - Former administrator; last edit February 11, 2006, user page says they've "lost interest in editing here" due to unimportant arguments.
• Casey Abell (talk • contribs • count) Quit Wikipedia concerning the Durova/Giano conflict, at the end of November 2007. Last edit made December 2, 2007, voting on User:Newyorkbrad's ArbCom election. Made a total of 11,465 edits.
• Catamorphism (talk • contribs • count) - Taking an indefinite break from Wikipedia, according to user's userpage. Last edit July 27, 2006.
• CattleGirl (talk • contribs • count) - Administrator; last edit April 4, 2008.
• Cdc (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit November 30, 2006.
• Celithemis (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit September 6, 2007.
• Cerejota (talk • contribs • count) - Made one edit on November 13, 2007, but hadn't edited since September prior to that.
• Chacor (talk • contribs • count) - A former admin, originally User:NSLE, then User:Chacor. Originally taking a long wikibreak, left a retirement message September 20, 2007. Made well over 10,000 edits on the English Wikipedia as Chacor alone. Made two edits on January 5, 2008.
• Cheeser1 (talk • contribs • count) - Left Wikipedia several times, always came back, but eventually posted a definitive and frustrated goodbye on his/her user page on April 12, 2008. Last edit: May 17, 2008.
• ChrisGriswold (talk • contribs • count) - Former administrator. Last edit on August 27, 2007.
• Chronographos (talk • contribs • count) - Missing since October 14, 2005. Made one edit to his user page September 6, 2006.
• Cjmarsicano (talk • contribs • count) - WP:H!P founder, left because he does not want to "Participate On Wikipedia Unless WikiMedia Starts Respecting The Fair Use Clause Of The US Copyright Act list"
• Clicketyclack (talk • contribs • count) - Self-administered {{User EX-WP}} 6 Feb 2008. Contributor with >11,500 edits; WikiProject memberships at time of departure: Categories, Biology.

• Codex Sinaiticus (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit September 28, 2007, but hadn't seriously edited since April 2007; cited his displeasure with certain categorizations of religion articles on his talk page.

• Colin Kimbrell (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit May 5, 2006. Left over concerns about the Wikipedia:Reward board, saying, "I'm going on Wikibreak, maybe forever, due to WP:RB. I no longer wish to contribute my labor to the project under these conditions, as I feel that this tremendously misguided proposal deals a critical blow to the credibility of the project...If it dies, I might come back. • Corax (talk • contribs • count) - Missing since May 22, 2006 following controversy and a block surrounding his posting of another Wikipedian's personal information.
• Coredesat (talk • contribs • count) - Admin, left retirement note on userpage March 30, 2008. Made a few edits afterward, last edit May 5, 2008.
• Cortonin (talk • contribs • count) - Missing since shortly after June 26, 2005 six-month ban from certain articles by ArbComm. [2]
• CovenantD (talk • contribs • count) - Hasn't returned since being blocked for 3RR violation on March 23, 2007.

• CrazyTalk (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit on November 5, 2005. Left a departure note on his user page. "Closed up shop. The three months I was a Wikiholic have sucessfully served their purpose (postponing my career change) and have now run their course. I have also arrived at this conclusion: [3]."
• Csernica (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit on December 21, 2007. On long wikibreak which may be permanent.
• Curps (talk • contribs • count) - Administrator. Declared a semi-Wikivacation on May 13, 2006 and made some bot edits, blocks, and deletions up until June 26, 2006, and then declared a long-term Wikivacation on August 1, 2006 and has not edited since.
• CryptoDerk (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit January 30, 2006 - the user modified his userpage to "I'm not really active on Wikipedia anymore," with the edit summary of (lalala what's up it's derk :P) on July 14, 2006. On March 24, 2007, the user made another to his page, adjusting his age in historical context.
• CyborgTosser (talk • contribs • count) - Administrator. Last edit May 3, 2007, after having a total of four edits between February 11, 2007 and May 2, 2007. He will be missed.

• DV8 2XL (talk • contribs • count) - Message on the user page, last edit April 30, 2007.
• Danakil (talk • contribs • count) - This user edited for only one and a half months, from August 1 to September 14, 2004, yet during that time made 3,009 edits. Although his pages moves were controversial, he was responsible for the systematic and correct categorization of hundreds of programming languages and other software related articles.
• DanDs (talk • contribs • count) - Expanded many articles to very good B-class articles, and helped to get The Sword of Shannara to GA, but he left suddenly on July 19th, returning only 3 times after that, including blanking his userpage on 5 September 2008.
• Darkfred (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit September 27, 2006.
• DarthVader (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit October 27, 2008, where he made two edits...before that, two edits on October 13, 2007...21 edits total since January of '07.
• David91 (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit April 12, 2006.
• Decumanus (talk • contribs • count) - Great editor of New York and U.S. river related topics. Really stopped in June 2005, but last edit was March 30, 2006.

• E Pluribus Anthony (talk • contribs • count) - Massive amount of edits, last one on December 3, 2006. Was blocked several times then used sock puppets and was blocked again. As Cogito ergo sumo, announced departure [4] October 15, 2006.
• Edeans (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit March 30, 2007. Left after the Essjay incident.
• Eequor (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit February 16, 2006 in which she left a note at Esperanza that said "I don't expect to come back again."
• Efghij (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit November 18, 2003.
• Elaragirl (talk • contribs • count) - Placed a retirement template on her user page on March 28, 2007, and made her last edit May 1, 2007.
• ElBenevolente (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit January 8, 2006, arbitrary departure occured after acknowledging a user with the {{welcome}} tag. As of April 21, 2006, all attempts to contact user in question have been unsuccessful.
