Xu Shousheng (Chinese: 徐守盛; Pinyin: Xú Shǒushèng; born 1953) is a Chinese politician. Xu has served as the Governor of Gansu since January 2007. 1

Biography

Xu was born in China's Jiangsu Province in 1953.1 He joined the Communist Party of China, a prequisite for political office, in October 1973.1 He was transferred from Jiangsu to Gansu in 2001 when he was appointed to head the Communist Party of China's Gansu Provincial Committee organization department.1

Xu Shousheng was first appointed as Governor of Gansu in January 2007.1 He was re-elected by the Gansu Provincial People's Congress on January 26, 2008.1

As Governor of Gansu, Xu is responsible for the personnel, environmental, economic, political and foreign affairs of the province.1 The Governorship ranks second in the province behind the Communist Party of China Provincial Committee Secretary.1
